For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When The Rainbow is Enuf
A scene that really stood out to me in For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide, was when all the women are taking to the one who just got raped. Instead of blaming it on him, they try to find reasons as to why she could have led him to think he could, that she wanted it, that there's nothing she can do about it because she knew him and kissed him; like it's her fault he raped her. I feel like this is a really big issue in society today, women are raped but will blame it on themselves for one reason or another, especially when they know the man. I feel as if this is a transnational issue that can occur in all communities and in all stages of life (from young children, teenagers, adulthood, etc). And in this scene, all the women are expressing thoughts that I feel many women who have been raped think but keep inside. This scene is really sad, but so important both to the story and to the issue in real life.
